Greener Türkiye: ANDRITZ to supply equipment for Incir hydropower plant International technology group ANDRITZ has secured a significant order from Limak Enerji Uretim Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S., a subsidiary of Limak Renewable Energy, to supply electromechanical equipment for the new Incir hydropower plant in Türkiye. The order has a value in the mid-double-digit million-euro range. The turnkey “from water-to-wire” contract encomes the engineering, manufacturing, supply, installation, and commissioning of two Francis turbine-generator sets including electromechanical equipment and an ECO-flow unit with a total installed plant capacity of 124 MW. The project owner, Limak Renewable Energy, is one of Türkiye’s leading pure renewable energy companies, with a strong commitment to expanding the country’s renewable energy capacity. The Incir project s Türkiye’s renewable energy strategy: The country has the largest installed hydropower capacity in Europe after Norway. With more projects presently in development, Türkiye is set to become the leading European country in clean energy, significantly contributing to a carbon-free future. Renewables for 69 GW or 60% of the country's total installed capacity of 118 GW. The turbine model, which has been extensively tested in ANDRITZ's own hydraulic laboratory, features one of the most efficient runner designs available. With a maximum head of 135 meters and a rated speed of 300 rpm, each turbine will have a maximum output of about 57 MW, while the ECO-flow unit will contribute additional 10 MW. With this contract, ANDRITZ further strengthens its role in Türkiye’s green transition and deepens its long-standing partnership with Limak Renewable Energy. The order marks the culmination of more than 20 years of successful cooperation between the two companies. #Hydropower #RenewableEnergy #ANDRITZ #PressRelease #Türkiye #Incir

Major milestone in Nam Sak Hydropower Project, Laos In a significant step forward for the Nam Sak Hydropower Project, ANDRITZ has successfully completed the lowering of turbines and main inlet valves for all three units. This achievement was made possible through close cooperation with our valued partner, the Phongsubthavy Group. Generator installation commenced in April 2025, marking the transition into the final phase of project execution. This milestone reflects not only technical progress but also the strong, ongoing relationship between ANDRITZ and the client. Notably, this is the second collaboration between ANDRITZ and Phongsubthavy Group, following the successful commissioning of the Houay Ka-Ouane Hydroelectric Project in 2021. With key activities now in advanced stages, the project remains on track for commissioning by the third quarter of 2025. Here’s to advancing sustainable energy — and powering progress through green innovation. #andritz #hydropower #renewableenergy #ForGrowthThatMatters #energy #india #laos

How AI 🤖 is streamlining turbine design – from concept to testing ⚙️ In today's world, digitalization is crucial for enhancing efficiency and fostering innovation across various industries. ANDRITZ is committed to driving this development forward by leveraging cutting-edge technologies. 🤝 Collaboration with the Software Competence Center Hagenberg (SCCH) ANDRITZ has partnered with the Software Competence Center Hagenberg (SCCH). Within the research focus AIPRA (AI-assisted Prescriptive Analytics), the focus is on how AI techniques can the hydraulic development of turbines at every stage of the R&D process, from the hydraulic design of turbine components to the laboratory testing of model hydraulic turbines. ⚙️ Optimizing hydraulic design By predicting the hydraulic behavior of turbine components, hydraulic designers can utilize existing design knowledge to accelerate the design process. Reinforcement learning techniques will be applied to assist the hydraulic design optimization. 📊 Anomaly detection in laboratory tests During laboratory model testing, identifying anomalies or deviations in the large volumes of measured data is crucial. This will speed up the testing phase and enhance understanding of critical parameters. Measurement data from laboratory model testing form the basis for predictive modeling and deep learning analysis. 📐➡️📊 Digitalization of 2D drawings to 3D models A primary goal of the project is the automatic conversion of 2D drawings of hydraulic components into 3D models. This will expedite the initial phase of R&D projects and minimize errors. The outcomes of this project could also be applied to other ANDRITZ applications where digitalization plays a role. This collaboration demonstrates how ANDRITZ is enhancing efficiency and innovation in hydraulic development through AI and digitalization. #Hydropower #RenewableEnergy #ANDRITZ #ResearchDevelopment #Partnership #SCCCH

The co-loacted PSP Kidston is a lighthouse project for renewable energy using an abandoned gold mine to produce renewable energy. The project is progressing well with the milestone of installation of the spiral case having been reached recently. #kidston #renewableenergy #pumpedstorage #andritz
Important milestone reached - Spiral case 🌀successfully positioned at Kidston PSP End of April 2025, the spiral case/stay ring assembly of Unit 2 at Kidston pumped storage project in Australia was successfully lifted into position. This achievement marks a critical advancement in installation works and underscores commitment to quality site works and excellence in installation process. 🏗️ Kidston is the first pumped storage hydropower project in Australia in over 40 years, and notably, the first to be developed by the private sector. It will become the third largest electricity storage device in the country, playing a pivotal role in enhancing energy security and sustainability. ⚡🌱 In 2021, ANDRITZ signed a contract for the design, manufacture and supply of the electromechanical equipment for the Kidston project in Queensland, Australia. This partnership has been instrumental in driving the project forward. 🤝 🎯 Reaching this milestone by placing the first of two spiral cases into its final destination, as scheduled, is a testament to EPC contractor’s (a t venture comprising of John Holland and Mc Connell Dowell) meticulous planning and execution under the supervision of ANDRITZ technical advisors. We look forward to continuing our partnership with installation team and achieving further milestones as we advance towards the completion of the Kidston pumped storage hydropower project. #Hydropower #RenewableEnergy #ANDRITZ #PumpedStorage #Australia #Kidston

Kaplan rotor of Baygorria HPP successfully tested and shipped! The modernization project of the Baygorria hydropower plant has taken another important step: the successful completion of tests on the first Kaplan runner. This is a significant milestone in the contract, which includes the modernization of three generating units. The test highlights the team’s commitment to ANDRITZ’s standards of excellence and quality. The Araraquara workshop was responsible for assembling the runner. The manufacturing team delivered exceptional performance, achieving strong results at every stage. The tests - including pressure testing, blade movement, spherical machining, and balancing - were presented to the client, UTE, who closely followed the process. “One of the highlights was the remote presentation of the runner balancing, carried out with the of our advanced technologies. In partnership with UTE, we validated all contractual criteria, proving the efficiency and precision of the process. A reduced model of this Kaplan runner, designed for maximum performance, had already been successfully tested in our hydraulic laboratory in Linz, Austria, consolidating ANDRITZ Hydropower’s global expertise,” said project coordinator Rafael Pereira. Recently, the rotor was shipped from the Araraquara factory to its final destination, the Baygorria hydropower plant in Uruguay. Check out images from the test and loading process in the video below. #Hydropower #RenewableEnergy #ANDRITZ #manufacturing #transport #Kaplan #Brazil #ForGrwothThatMatters
