📊 57% of new career entrants in Japan are fully site-based, making it the only country surveyed where hybrid or remote working is in the minority for those at the start of their careers. Both China and Japan have the lowest proportion (27%) of career entrants in remote or hybrid working today, highlighting the fact that the future of work is far from a one-size-fits-all approach. 🌏 What remains universal is that a strong culture transcends a physical workplace. Shared values, authentic, open, collaborative and sociable organizations built around trust, autonomy and professional development - these are all key to keeping the workforce motivated, engaged and productive. ing Bangladesh’s national strategic plan for growth and socio-economic development, we’ve been partnering with stakeholders across various industries to deliver activities through the Standards Partnership programme. These focus on strengthening the quality of goods and services produced in the country and diversifying exports to international markets, ing over 100 organizations, especially small and medium sized, local, and women-owned businesses. Activities have included: • Improving green trade in the country through standards and training to reduce plastic waste and greenhouse gas emissions. • ing the agri-food sector, one of Bangladesh’s most promising export industries, with training on food safety to improve quality and increase exports • Upskilling 200 auditors through quality management training, with 100 becoming qualified across several ISO quality management systems. Together, these activities will have a direct impact in strengthening the national quality infrastructure in the country. And we look forward to seeing continued momentum towards the country’s strategic plan. We were delighted to be ed by Dreams Come True at our Sustainability Showcase at the House of Commons last week. Dreams Come True is a wish-granting charity serving children in the most impoverished areas of the UK who are also living with a disability, serious illness, or life-limiting condition. BSI has been in partnership with Dreams Come True since 2023, granting £30,000 to the charity in both 2023 and 2024 to investment in Community Dreams that utilize digital tools to improve the lives of children. Partnering with organizations such as Dreams Come True is core element of our efforts to create a fair society and sustainable world. Male career starters were 44% more likely to be in either remote or hybrid work structures during the first two years after entering the workforces, compared to 36% of their female counterparts. Although this has since narrowed, this disparity underscores a gap in how workplace opportunities for career entrants in the last five years were distributed, potentially shaping long-term expectations and preferences differently based on gender. With hybrid models unquestionably here to stay, organizations should use it to enable individuals to work in the way that best suits their skills and wider needs. Last week we partnered with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club at our Sustainability Showcase event at the House of Commons. We explored how we can minimize our impact on the environment and local communities by planning, managing and delivering events sustainably.
