We aim to create a world without poverty where every child, family and community is connected, productive and thriving.
Sobre nosotros
Children International is a top-rated global nonprofit that delivers child and youth development programming to break the cycle of generational poverty. Through a customized approach, we serve young people in Colombia, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, India, Guatemala, Mexico, the Philippines, Zambia and the United States for the first two decades of their lives. We provide access to health care, education, positive role models, and the life and job skills they need to become gainfully employed. When equipped to improve their own lives, young people also transform their families and communities, and, as a result, multiply good in the world. Together, we can partner with children, youth and their families to change their lives – and shape the positive trajectory of future generations and communities. Want to be a part of this movement? Learn more at children.org. About half of those living in poverty are children, and we believe ending poverty starts with them. Without help, children in poverty become adults in poverty. Their future children are born into poverty, and the cycle continues. Together, we can put an end to generational poverty with a long-term, customized program that helps children get the education, life skills and confidence to change their lives – and the lives of future generations too. Our unique, global approach focuses on four key areas: Health, Education, Empowerment, and Employment. Want to be a part of this movement? Learn more at our website: children.org

For Ramdas Pai, Senior Advisor at Children International, leadership is grounded in purpose, ethics and the values ed down by his family. “My family deeply influenced my values and perspectives from an early age. Of taking ownership for one’s actions and standing up for what I believed in. As did my understanding of the Indian philosophy of Dharma and Karma in everyday life; that of being purposeful, ethical, being guided by moral principles and understanding choices.” If you ask Ramdas how long he has been with Children International, he will tell you three decades, but from the heart, a lifetime. He believes diversity strengthens our mission and deepens our connection with communities. “Accepting this strength of diversity has fostered innovation, helped us understand our constituents better, improved our problem solving and decision making and increased employee engagement.” Ramdas highlights how inclusion comes to life at Children International, from the annual Values in Action awards to the global strategy session we recently featured. With leaders like Ramdas, we are working to end poverty and help children build brighter futures. #ChildrenInternational #EndPoverty #MultiplyGood #APIMonth #AAPIMonth

At Children International, leadership is shaped by cultural values that prioritize empathy, inclusion, and community, all key to our mission of ending poverty for good. Karl Henessy Rafa, Agency Director in Manila, Philippines, has been with Children International for over ten years. He shares how his Filipino heritage influences his leadership: “As a Filipino, my leadership style is deeply rooted in the values of bayanihan (community spirit), pakikipagkapwa-tao (shared humanity), and malasakit (genuine concern for others). These principles have shaped me to try my best to lead with empathy, collaboration, and a strong sense of community, prioritizing relationships, shared goals, and inclusive participation.” For Karl, inclusion means ensuring all children, youth, and community , regardless of background, gender, disability, or economic status, have equitable opportunities to thrive. This includes offering flexible schedules, developing language-sensitive materials, and creating safe spaces for girls and LGBTQ+ youth to express themselves freely. “Our leadership actively fosters inclusion by modeling inclusive behaviors, investing in training on equity and safeguarding, and establishing loops that elevate community voices,” Karl explains. Karl’s leadership reflects how inclusion and community-driven solutions are central to breaking the cycle of poverty and creating lasting change. #ChildrenInternational #EndPoverty #MultiplyGood #API #AAPIMonth

There’s something special about helping a child discover the joy of reading. In our Chimaltengango Community Center in Guatemala, youth recently took part in a book fair and workshop where they explored new stories and each chose a book to take home. Led by our Inspiring agency team in Guatemala and made possible through a local library partnership, this event is part of a book tour happening across our community centers.
