The blog discusses: 🔹 The different types of strategies that can be implemented to mitigate these impacts 🔹 The importance of effective early warning systems  🔹 The importance of community engagement 🔹 Technological innovations that can help with early preparedness “In one of our recent projects ing integrated urban resilience in Southeast Asia, we saw first-hand how green infrastructure, such as restoring tree cover in public spaces, lowered local surface temperatures during peak heat waves. What an incredible experience it has been over the past 4 days at the Climate Finance Access Network (CFAN), Pacific workshop! 🌏 Climate Finance Access Network (CFAN) Pacific is managed and coordinated by RMI and implemented in the region by Pacific Community-SPC and GGGI Pacific. From day one, it was clear that this was going to be a unique opportunity for learning and building connections. The session highlights for me were the Day 2 technical sessions on unlocking climate finance delivered by E Co. These sessions were particularly memorable because, surprisingly, they did not involve any PPT slides. Instead, we delved into real and practical case studies that challenged us to think and innovate on the spot. The use of AI by one of the groups to create a video to pitch their project really emphasises the value of being up to par with the technologies available for efficient and effectiveness in my line of work. The site visits were the perfect way to wrap up the workshop. Visiting the WAF Deuba Packaged Water Treatment Plant, the Navakavu Mangrove Sanctuary and Walkway, and Waiqanake village provided invaluable insights and reinforced the lessons learned during the sessions. One key reflection I take away from this workshop is the importance of relationships, partnerships, and building personal connections. These elements are just as essential as the technical aspects of developing good proposals if we want to unlock critical investments in the Pacific region. This dual focus on technical expertise and personal connection truly represents the underlying pillars of the 2025 CFAN Pacific Workshop. Thank you to everyone who made this workshop such a success!. Looking forward to continuing these conversations and collaborations as we work towards a sustainable and resilient future for the Pacific! 🌿#CFANPacific #ClimateFinance #Sustainability #PacificIslands #CFAN #SPC #GGGIPacific #ECo

  • Funding urban climate action 🏙️🌳 | WEBINAR - Have you ed to hear Grant speak to Elizabeth Mungai from C40 Cities this Thursday at 12pm UK time? Elizabeth and Grant will be discussing climate finance opportunities for African cities and how urban leaders can unlock funding for impactful climate action. us for our second instalment in our brand new LinkedIn Live series centred on climate finance and cities. Cities are dynamic and vibrant spaces, bringing together a diverse mix of people, economic activity, and built environments. They offer both inspiration and challenges because, while they act as centres of opportunity, innovation, and diversity, they are also sites of inequality and sources of high emissions. Resultantly, their role in the fight against climate change is becoming increasingly vital, as cities both significantly contribute to it and are deeply affected by its impacts. To ensure cities remain places of possibility, we must make them more sustainable. This requires unlocking appropriate finance and investing it in initiatives that make our cities greener. Don’t miss the chance to gain real insights from the field and ask any questions you might have! for the event below 👇

Founder at E Co. | Climate Finance & Organisational Growth Expert | ing leaders in the climate service & sustainability sectors to create a positive impact on the world 🌍 | 25+ years experience

In a region on the frontlines of climate change, maximising funding impact isn't just a goal – it's essential for survival and resilience. We just spent a week in Fiji doing something crucial. My colleague Ellie La Trobe-Hogan and I where ing Pacific advisors facing urgent needs to unlock private investment for climate action. That's why we were thrilled to deliver training this week for the Climate Finance Access Network (CFAN) workshop for Pacific CFAN advisors. The atmosphere was light, fun, and buzzing with the excitement of possibility. We focused on how to maximise the impact of donor funding by bringing in crucial private investment, through blended finance. Our training is all about empowerment 💪, giving advisors and government stakeholders the practical tools they need. Tools to communicate their project ideas clearly and concisely. To explain the value proposition for investors with genuine enthusiasm. And to build projects that are not just impactful but also "bankable" and ready to attract investment. We covered vital ground: 🌱 What makes a "bankable" project? 💰 What financial instruments really unlock private investment? 🛠️ Deg blended finance tools to de-risk and boost investor returns. 🗣️ Communicating your value proposition powerfully to different investors. It wasn't death by PowerPoint! In fact no slides were used at all! We used dynamic case studies on Food Security, Renewables, Water Security, Ocean/Coastal Resilience, and Resilient Infrastructure. Then came the highlight: a nail-biting "Dragon's Den" / "Shark tank" -style simulation where the five teams pitched their ideas! It was amazing to see them apply the practical insights they'd gained. Huge congratulations to the "Bright Sparks" team who came out victorious! 🏆 Seeing the advisors and stakeholders connect with the practical steps to unlocking significant climate finance feels truly impactful. It's about turning potential into reality for critical climate projects. What opportunities do you see for unlocking private investment in climate action in your region? Comment below! And follow me and our work to build the E Co. institute for more on climate finance training and project development.
