Next year, we will celebrate 100 years since the launch of Electrolux in Brazil. To kick-start the celebrations for 2026, our Latin America team organized a press trip for five Brazilian media outlets, alongside a brand ambassador and a key retailer, to visit our global HQ in Stockholm, Sweden. They were immersed in our Swedish values, our people-centric approach, our ion for design as a key differentiator of our brands and how sustainability is at the center of it all. During the visit, they had the opportunity to tour our testing labs, witnessing firsthand our cutting-edge research and dedication that delivers a quality product experience to our consumers. They also had a sneak peak at our soon-to-be-opened Greenhouse Stockholm (a green neighborhood we're building around our HQ) and heard directly from our Chief Technology and Sustainability Officer Elena Breda about our sustainability leadership. As sustainability leaders in the appliance industry, it's our responsibility to promote sustainability throughout our value chain. We're taking another step forward with the launch of our first climate-linked financial incentive program for suppliers. We're piloting a new program in Latin America to help suppliers cut carbon emissions and meet key sustainability goals. In partnership with ItauBBA bank, suppliers who reach a minimum CDP Climate Score* can unlock better financing rates. This creates a financial incentive for suppliers to improve their environmental performance. Alberto Chiappinotto, our Procurement Sustainability Director explains: “Our new climate-linked financial incentive for suppliers will not only help us to create more sustainable supply chains together with our partners — they will also enable our partners to obtain better conditions with financial institutions to enhance their business performance. Rising levels of microplastics in our oceans, our water supply, our air, our food and our bodies are an increasing source of public concern. As sustainability leaders, we recently hosted the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) working group on microplastics, ed by other appliance manufacturers, test institutes, filter manufacturers, and test material suppliers at our factory in Porcia, Italy. The goal was to develop the best way to measure microplastics levels in household washing machine waste water, a first step toward an industry standard to get a reliable, repeatable, and reproducible method. According to the UN Environment Programme, the amount of plastic microfibers released during laundering is the equivalent of dumping three billion polyester shirts into the ocean every year. “We at Electrolux Group want to be at the forefront of this issue because it touches everyone,” says Elisa Feltrin, Care Standard and Product Rating Manager. “But we must develop measures that are really effective, and meaningful for consumers. We don’t want to just wave a sustainability flag, but empower consumers for change.” Did you know? We launched a microplastics filter for our Electrolux and AEG washing machines in 2022.
