my take on grub gate and the real problem behind it

A few weeks ago, Meta fired a bunch of employees for abusing their perks privileges. for some people this was a question of entitlement. for others it was just bad, unethical behavior but for me it was more a question of a lack of focus on culture and poor leadership. at a time where #tech companies are moving faster than ever, leadership and culture are things that are being thrown by the wayside. People are so busy being busy, they have forgotten what's important and then they act surprise when people behave the way they do. thank you Business Insider insider for this article and Lara O'Reilly for allowing me to contribute to it. People focus on what can be measured. when we stop focusing on #leadership and on culture because we believe that they can't be measured bad things happen. and BTW - that's complete BS as well. they can be measured. the best companies are winners in the long term because they have a strong culture strong #culture comes from a clear set of four or five core values the responsibility for transmitting those values falls to #leaders and the behavior of those leaders sets the tone for everybody else. if you want to avoid a grubgate at your company, focus on leadership, focus on culture. The rest will take care of itself. and stop blaming your employees. own it
