    • As part of the University Extension Program (PESC - FEA USP), I ed a group of students from Business, Economics and ing that planned and executed a project to a nonprofit organization (NPO) called 'Movimento Comunitário do Jardim São Joaquim', dedicated to the education, welfare and social inclusion of children and elderly living at impoverished communities in São Paulo.

    • Project scope: assess the organizational strategy and structure in order to enhance fundraising efectiveness and accomplish the NPO goals.

    • Project main stakeholders: the istrative staff of the organization, university professors and for-profit firms interested in making partnership with the NPO.

    • This article aims to analyze some of the main challenges presented for Brazilian nonprofit organizations, based on a case study of the Movimento Comunitário do Jardim Sao Joaquim, located in an impoverished community of Sao Paulo. The paper addresses the importance of assessing the organizational strategy and structure, before undertaking operational activities, such as fundraising or budget cuts. Published in Portuguese.
