What do you do if your code quality is lacking?
Test Driven Development is always a good investment, mainly nowadays with the help of AI tools like Copilot, Chat-GPT and others.. Having a strong code coverage definitely adds. a lot of confidence when deploying things to production, not to mention, refactoring code. Besides unit testing, having other tests strategies (integration, functional, performance, stress tests) are very crucial for smooth software deliveries and code base changing.

What do you do if your software engineering internship project feels overwhelming?
Make sure you are on the right path in your career within the company you are working in, always asking for s, 1:1s and when making deliverables. Build up a career plan with you manager and make sure both sides are well aligned on the targets for each performance evaluation time frame. Always be available to help others and ask for help. Team work nowadays is the most valuable skill you can have.

Timebox each task is extremely important, if the task is taking more time than expected, give visibility in the daily meetings, this tasks is probably more complex than it was thought. Refine this task into smaller doable tasks, if any smaller task is out of the engineer skill set, assign it to the right engineer or ask for help to upper management if there's something out of budget or similar. Focus your time and energy into something you consider easier or less complex. Always to enjoy your daily activities, team communication and set daily goals for both personal and professional activities. Work-life balance is the most important thing to learn. Make sure your physical and mental health is up-to-date.

- Break down complex requirements into smaller, engineering doable tasks. - Prioritize the ones that will bring more value to the stakeholders. - Build up a roap with all deliverables, and stablish milestones. - Assign the tasks to the engineers that have the skills, both technical and/or personal. - Daily check all statuses from all tasks and gather information about blocks and success and track them into a board. - Weekly refine all tasks after engineering and list fast actions to deliver faster. - Update project visibility to upper management and stakeholders - Make sure all deliverables are bringing value as they should. - Embrace team failures as valuable lessons and celebrate team success.
