«Isabela is a young and proven talent in the data space. Since meeting her at IBM during her trainee years, to following her career after that, to hiring her to my data team, to seeing her win the world over, it has been nothing short of spectacular. I'm very lucky to have her on my network and anyone on her network should feel the same.»

Calculation Methodology for deg Tied-back Retaining Walls (Original title: Metodologia de cálculo para dimensionamento de Cortinas Atirantadas)
Tied-back retaining walls are structures that require assembly working forces of 3 different sources: resistance properties of reinforced concrete, prestressed anchors and also involves soil properties. All of this to prevent the soil failure along a sloping surface. Despite the complexity involving this type of retaining structure project, there is a method developed in 1957 by prof. Eng. Eng. Ântonio J. Costa Nunes called “Brazilian Anchor Method” which encouraged the usage of this type of structure in Brazil. Therefore, this assessment aims to highlight the main aspects of deg to be considered by describing the particularities of each material (reinforced concrete, prestressed steel and soil) and how they interact as a unique structure to be able to ensure a good performance and safety. This is demonstrated by a practical calculation example for deg a tied-back retaining wall. The aim is showing a sequence of objective calculations to be carried out using the “Brazilian Anchor Method” to analyze slope stability, also using NBR 5629:2006 orientations to evaluate anchors and NBR 6118:2014 to estimate the wall itself. Although there is a Brazilian regulation guiding the execution of anchors, there is no well-defined methodology to estimate anchors. Furthermore, the fact that the soil is extremely heterogeneous makes it difficult to get a precise calculation model and that’s why this type of project still relies on the project designer experience.

Ground Improvement with Stone Columns - Methods of Calculating Settlement Improvement Factor
Sponsored by CNPq-Brazil.
The research aims to investigate and understand, for the four existing methods individually, how each one of the input parameters considered in the equations for the Settlement Improvement Factor calculation affect the output results. The research aims to investigate and understand, for the four existing methods individually, how each one of the input parameters considered in the equations for the Settlement Improvement Factor calculation affect the output results. Doing so, it was possible to search for a way to simplify the representation of the equations used for the Settlement Improvement Factor calculation, in order to facilitate their understanding and application in practice, using dimensionless input parameters and pointing out which these parameters must be calibrated with a high precision for having a great influence on the final results.
Hence, the resultas obtained for the four different methods were analyzed to identify conditions that may converge the solutions of two different methods in order to try to point out one of them as a general method to be used with a good level of reliability and that is also in favor of safety.

Generating UTM coordinates using azimuths and distance (original title: Geração de coordenadas UTM usando azimutes e distâncias para delimitação da área da unidade da Embrapa em Sinop, Mato Grosso)
http://www.alice.cnptia.embrapa.br/handle/doc/660797
The aim of this study was to delimit the area of the farm where it would be built the new unit of EMBRAPA in Sinop and generate a map of the vegetation remain in the area and its surroundings. This work was done during my internship at the Laboratory of Geo-EMBRAPA Campinas and was subsequently presented at the V Exhibition of Interns Works to the company board.
