«Lucas began as one of Legiti's first engineers and was heavily involved in the construction and operation of nearly all parts of our ML-based antifraud system. From building low-latency ultra-resilient data collection pipelines to optimizing our data science team's model building toolkit to diving into massive-scale feature computation, Lucas has done it all. He's a naturally inquisitive engineer who seeks deep understanding of the systems and technologies he touches, which allows him to leverage even their most esoteric features to the fullest extent (when necessary). Lucas is intellectually critical but personally empathetic, which makes him an excellent collaborator. He knows how to ask the right questions and can sniff out a fallacy or an oversight, but does so in a helpful and collaborative manner that is never accusatory or belittling. Lucas has a naturally didactic personality, which makes him an excellent mentor for more junior engineers, but is also a craftsman who produces high-quality work and helps set the bar for best practices. My own engineering and software philosophy evolved greatly as a result of my conversations with Lucas, an impact that I'm sure many others can claim as well.
