Ver proyectoFaceTrainer consisted of a web application to teach facial expression recognition and production to children with autism. The web app consisted in two main activities for autistic children: recognition of facial expressions and production of facial expressions. To implement the production of facial expressions, we used advanced machine learning techniques to identify the feelings of the in real time.
As the first step, the children must in the app, so the responsible…FaceTrainer consisted of a web application to teach facial expression recognition and production to children with autism. The web app consisted in two main activities for autistic children: recognition of facial expressions and production of facial expressions. To implement the production of facial expressions, we used advanced machine learning techniques to identify the feelings of the in real time.
As the first step, the children must in the app, so the responsible therapist can track his results. There are four four types of data that are extracted while the children perform the challenges: correct and wrong answers given by the , time to finish the activity, videos of the and eye tracking.
To validate the use of the application, an usability experiment was performed. Ten autistic children executed forty challenges on the application. We identified a few usability issues, and also confirmed previous findings from the literature, reinforcing the fact that humans recognize positive facial expressions (e.g. happiness) faster and with more accuracy than negative facial expressions (e.g. fear). The results were published on a conference paper and on my thesis. -

Ver proyectoiMelanoma is my graduation project. It’s an iPhone application to help in the diagnosis of malignant melanoma. The project was splitted in two parts: the application as itself (Objective C) and the image processing algorithm (C++). My tests on educational databases shows a 90% sucess rate.
