The Role
The Site Reliability Engineering organization at Medallia brings together the infrastructure and applications that power a highly reliable global SaaS platform. In particular, Provisioning and Deployment SREs own the provisioning and deployment of different products and their infrastructure stack at Medallia, and ensure that they continue to scale with our rapidly-growing business. We are constantly growing our footprint to meet and exceed the demands in multiple geographical regions. Most of our products operate in Kubernetes environments. We are currently seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer skilled in Python to our Provisioning and Deployment team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Python programming, extensive experience in developing and maintaining automation frameworks, and a ion for optimizing processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain scalable automation solutions and systems that enhance productivity and efficiency. These systems are integral to our capability to advance our industry-leading SaaS platform.
Please note, that this role will require being on a rotating on-call shift which includes being available during evenings, weekends, and holidays when scheduled.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable automation frameworks using Python
Develop and implement new functionality that is essential for orchestrating the complex rollout of Medallia Experience Cloud releases into environments across multiple data centers and geographic regions
Maintain and improve the systems used to deploy, scale, and operate databases dynamically
Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide automation solutions
Mentor and guide junior developers and engineers in best practices for Python and automation development
Partner with the database istration team to understand requirements and use cases
Ensure observability of our deployment stack to achieve and maintain proper alerting and monitoring
Be part of the SRE team’s on-call rotation for escalations
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
5+ years of engineering experience working on distributed systems or operations engineering
5 years of Python experience
Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Demonstrated understanding of software fundamentals, development processes, and best practices
Demonstrated fluency in English, both verbal and written
Ability to be part of the team’s on-call rotation
Preferred Qualifications
Experience operating Postgres databases
Experience in Bash and Golang
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Experience working with a distributed team
Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment
System troubleshooting skills
