- [Tutor] Introduction to TOEIC Writing. The Writing Section of the TOEIC Test assesses your ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English. Different types of writing skills are evaluated in the different parts of the test. These include grammar, vocabulary, organization, structure and content, and you will be asked to produce a variety of written output types. There are three tasks in the writing test. You'll be asked to write a sentence based on a picture, respond to a written request, and write an opinion essay. The writing test takes about an hour, and you can score a maximum of 200 points. You will have a set time limit for each section of the exam, and your answer will also have to meet a set length. For example, in the first task, you can only write one sentence for each picture, this means anything from 5 to 20 words.
