La biodiversidad es la base de una agricultura resiliente, de ecosistemas sanos y de sistemas alimentarios preparados para enfrentar el futuro. Este año, en el Día Internacional de la Diversidad Biológica, destacamos como los Países Bajos trabajan al nivel mundial para integrar la biodiversidad en las prácticas agrícolas. En este video, Sanne Kruid, Jefa del Equipo para la Biodiversidad Internacional en el Ministerio de Agricultura, Pesca, Seguridad Alimentaria y Naturaleza se une a los consejeros agrícolas para compartir poderosos ejemplos de cómo se está fortaleciendo la biodiversidad en todo el mundo. La biodiversidad no es solo naturaleza. Tiene que ver con la resistencia económica, la innovación y la sostenibilidad a largo plazo. Desde la salud del suelo, la polinización hasta la adaptación al clima y el a los mercados, la biodiversidad afecta a todos los eslabones de la cadena agroalimentaria. Juntos, a través de las fronteras, estamos dando forma a un futuro más verde y resiliente. En Chile, el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente está actualizando la Estrategia Nacional de Biodiversidad (ENB) para alinearla con el Marco Global de Biodiversidad de Kunming-Montreal, firmado el 2022. Entrega exitosa del proyecto GIRAgua. En presencia del gobernador de la región de Coquimbo, el director de INIA Coquimbo, la directors regional de la DGA Coquimbo y muchos otros asistentes, el proyecto GIRAgua fue entregado durante un simposio sobre la recarga gestionada de acuíferos. Ahora existe un sistema operativo para inyectar agua directamente en el acuífero. Este sistema pueda contribuir no solo a la sostenibilidad de la agricultura en Pan de Azúcar, sino también servir como ejemplo para otras regiones de Chile que también enfrentan escasez de agua. En la conversación entre la embajadora Elke Merks-Schaapveld y el gobernador Cristóbal Juliá de la Vega, se habló sobre cómo los Países Bajos y la región de Coquimbo pueden colaborar más en los sectores de agricultura y minería, con un enfoque especial en el agua. Another day, another event to learn from: Europe Day 2025 👏

🌱 Today was our third, and last, day of the mission to the Netherlands to see first hand how to use #NatureBasedSolutions for #ClimateAdaptation projects to foster #ResilientInfrastructure. What a fantastic time to exchange knowledge on #BuildingWithNature with our 15 decision-makers from #Argentina, #Belize, #Chile, #CostaRica, #DominicanRepublic, #Ecuador, #Mexico, #Panama and #Peru, together with International Financial Institutions as the The World Bank and Banco Centroamericano de Integración Económica - BCIE. 🌾 🍄 Deborah Lambert and Eduardo Marín from Felixx Landscape Architects & Planners guided us through “edible” Rijnvliet neighborhood of Utrecht. Beyond its aesthetic, edible, and recreational benefits, Rijnvliet's urban #foodforest enhances the local ecosystem. It contributes to a better quality of life by offering a rich nature experience to humans, fostering #biodiversity. 🌧️🌿 We later moved to the #NoordwardPolder near the Biesbosch to learn about the #RoomForTheRiver approach, a Multi stakeholder approach where rivers are given more room to move freely and natural tidal processes are allowed to occur. This has led to reduced #floodrisks, healthier local #wetlands, more diverse wildlife and new sustainable agricultural opportunities. With warm thanks to Hans Brouwer from Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Waterstaat for the fantastic guided tour! 👩🏫 👨🎓 We ended our day with a presentation by our guests of some of the main challenges faced by their countries, and how they believe #NatureBasedSolutions could be help solve these challenges. Presentations were followed by lively discussions with representatives of around 15 Dutch companies specialized in #BuildingWithNature, resulting in new enthusiasm and connections between #LatinAmerica, the #Caribbean and the #Netherlands! 💪 We look forward to take today’s enthusiasm forward and continue working together with everyone present today to enhance the region’s resilience!
