Um novo artigo da Nature Biotechnology mostra que agonistas do receptor GLP-1, como peptídeos, podem reduzir comportamentos compulsivos associados ao álcool, tabaco e outras substâncias.     From Backyard Soil to Breakthrough Antibiotics: Uncovering New Solutions for Antimicrobial Resistance At Peptidus Biotech, we seek bio-inspired products for animal health from diverse biomes, with the development of new antibiotics as our primary goal. However, sometimes groundbreaking discoveries occur in the most unexpected places—right in our own backyard! A recent study published in Nature highlights this perfectly: researchers found a potent new antibiotic molecule in a soil sample from a garden. This molecule, produced by Paenibacillus bacteria, effectively kills drug-resistant pathogens by targeting the ribosome in a unique manner, thereby reducing the risk of resistance development. With antimicrobial resistance posing a growing global threat, these discoveries reinforce the importance of exploring both the vast and the familiar in our search for new treatments.   • A Breakthrough in Chronic Pain Treatment Without the Risks using AI compound design Over 1 billion people suffer from chronic pain worldwide, often relying on opioids with severe risks of addiction and overdose. But a breakthrough offers hope. Researchers from Stanford University and Washington University School of Medicine have developed a novel compound that targets the CB1 receptor completely new. Unlike previous approaches, which caused psychoactive side effects and loss of efficacy, this new strategy involved rational drug design using advanced computational simulations. By mapping the dynamic structural changes of the CB1 receptor, researchers discovered a previously unknown cryptic pocket—a transient binding site that was not detected in experimental studies. They designed a compound that selectively binds to this pocket using AI-driven molecular modeling, activating only the pain-relief pathway without triggering psychoactive effects or tolerance buildup. Pesquisadores da Stanford University e da Washington University School of Medicine desenvolveram um composto inovador que interage com o receptor CB1 de forma totalmente nova. Diferente das abordagens anteriores, que geravam efeitos psicoativos indesejados e perda de eficácia, essa nova estratégia utilizou design racional de fármacos com simulações computacionais avançadas.
