  • We are pleased to announce that we have entered into a co-development agreement with Beyond the Sea to bring kite-powered propulsion to commercial shipping ⚓🌊 Together, we will equip an Ultranav chemical tanker with Beyond the Sea’s SeaKite® system – starting with a 100 m² kite in 2025 and scaling up to a full 400 m² version by 2027. This collaboration s our commitment to pragmatic, operational solutions that reduce emissions and help accelerate shipping’s energy transition. Beyond the Sea develops and markets kites that can be used on all types of vessels – from leisure boats to large cargo ships. These kites harness wind power to complement engine propulsion, lowering ships’ energy needs and proportionally reducing their greenhouse gas emissions. They also provide an additional safety feature, as they can be deployed as emergency backup propulsion. Cristian Widow, Ultranav describes this partnership as a new milestone in Ultranav’s decarbonisation strategy and says, “This project is not just a test – it is a clear commitment to integrating breakthrough technologies into our fleet to anticipate the future of cargo shipping.”

  • Ultratank maintains EcoVadis Silver Medal, ranking among the top 15% of rated companies ⭐ Ultratank has once again been awarded the renowned EcoVadis Silver Medal, confirming its position among the top 15% of all assessed companies. This recognition emphasizes Ultratank’s ongoing commitment to improve on energy efficiency, environmental compliance, labour and human resources practices, and corporate ethics. While maintaining last year’s Silver Medal status, the increased difficulty of this year’s assessment places Ultratank at the same level or ahead of the 92% of the companies evaluated by EcoVadis. EcoVadis, the world’s leading provider of business sustainability ratings, has assessed over 150,000 companies globally. Its medal-based recognition system evaluates corporate performance across four critical areas: environmental impact, ethical business conduct, labour and human rights, and sustainable procurement, by benchmarking organisations against an exhaustive global database of rated companies.

  • Even small adjustments in daily operations can contribute to fuel savings and reduced emissions. But how do we ensure these adjustments happen on board a vessel? 🚢   We are excited to announce that we are launching a 6-month trial with Signol – a behaviour change service designed to encourage fuel-saving practices among crew . Used on 19 vessels across Ultranav, the trial with Signol is an additional initiative aimed at saving fuel and lowering emissions.   Signol is a tech-enabled behaviour change service that helps shipping companies fully engage crews in reducing emissions through their daily tasks. By using behavioural science, Signol motivates and engages crew to make more sustainable and fuel-efficient decisions.   The trial with Signol s Ultranav’s GHG strategy and our aim towards a zero-emission fleet by 2050. Signol complements our other sustainability initiatives, including optimising the fleet, improving vessel performance, looking for viable environmental partnerships, and much more 🌍

  • We take our responsibility for the environment and nature very seriously 🌿 Beyond optimising our core business towards a zero emission fleet, we also believe in giving back to nature. That is why we have been involved in the Otway Nursery, ing the ecological restoration of Patagonia. We provided resources as well as the very first plants for the project, and we have now reached an agreement to help plant an additional 45,000 Lenga trees in the Magallanes region 🌳 We are very proud to be part of this important initiative and to contribute to the well-being of our planet. 📸 Image from Reforestemos Patagonia

  • Strategic partnerships are a growing focus for Ultratank, as a way to strengthen the value of their transport services. This approach involves broadening their network of ship providers in the West and Japan to secure their role in the Americas parcel tanker market. The latest addition to their fleet, the M/T Pheasant, is a clear example of this strategy in action. Delivered earlier this year from Usuki, Japan, she is the first of three sister ships built under a long-term charter with Tamba Kisen. As the 14th newbuilding to the Ultratank fleet, M/T Pheasant reflects a decade long partnership with Japan’s maritime cluster - a collaboration that has already seen 19 newbuild units contracted since 2013. Congratulations to Ultratank with the M/T Pheasant - may she have fair winds and smooth seas! ⚓
