VMetrix, a Chilean company focused on providing a cloud-native SaaS platform for investment, risk and treasury management, announced its USD $3 million Series Seed led by Kayyak Ventures. VMetrix aims to democratize financial technology, enabling digital transformation for institutions of all sizes. The new funding will fuel growth and enhance key functionalities. Daniel is an entrepreneur and product designer, widely recognized for his pioneering contributions to SaaS businesses in Latin America. With a degree in industrial civil engineering and a lifelong ion for technology—dating back to when he began programming at age 12—Daniel has built a career defined by innovation, resilience, and impact. His entrepreneurial journey began in 2009, shortly after completing his engineering studies. At just 23, he co-founded his first startup, focusing on the underserved dental industry. Guided by a vision to build global solutions from Latin America, he combined technical skill and market insight to lay the foundation for one of the region’s most influential healthtech platforms. Daniel is a recognized Endeavor entrepreneur. His domain expertise includes product development, SaaS and AI strategy, and the evolution of the Latin American startup ecosystem. He is also an active angel investor. That vision became HealthAtom, co-founded with Roberto León Velasco, Guillermo Medel Lucas, and José María Iruretagoyena Oliveri. The company began with Dentalink, a software solution for dental clinics, and expanded to include Medilink (for medical centers) and Gerty (for financial services integration). Today, HealthAtom processes over 50 million healthcare interactions annually, serves more than 15 million patients, and facilitates over $2 billion in annual medical spending. Its innovations include fraud prevention models for insurers and a streamlined copayment system where patients only pay their portion while clinics are reimbursed directly. Our partner, Alejandro Tocigl was recently featured in DF Lab, gave his views on the current state of venture capital in Chile and the region, in the context of the launch of the second fund, Kayyak II. Ni inocencia ni hipocresía. GSG NAB Chile - Inversión de Impacto me invitó a escribir una columna respecto a la inversión de impacto en el escenario actual que está bien movido. Me hizo reflexionar, no solo en relación a la inversión de impacto, sino también a todas esas iniciativas con buenas intenciones que no llegan a buen puerto. Siempre hablamos de "green washing" -hipocresía- pero poco hablamos de esas buenas intenciones que carecen de buenos fundamentos para lograr el impacto esperado -inocencia. Cuando el mar está movido, las olas se llevan rápidamente al “buenismo” y a la hipocresía, pero quedan en pie aquellas estrategias fundadas en la convicción genuina del propósito y el realismo -estrategias con fundamentales robustos de negocio y de construcción de portfolio adecuados al riesgo-retorno que se está dispuesto a digerir. El capital pone la capacidad de tomar riesgo y el talento pone el conocimiento y la motivación para descubrir nuevas soluciones a grandes desafíos. Cundo ese acuerdo entre capital y talento se basa en buenos fundamentos y se sella con el propósito como telón de fondo, las posibilidades se multiplican y se hacen, paradójicamente, menos riesgosas y más atractivas desde el punto de vista del retorno.
