🤖 What kind of artificial intelligence do we want? What ethical challenges does AI pose in healthcare, and how can we address its impact across the humanities, sciences, and engineering? These were the central questions at the 11th German-Brazilian Dialogue on Science, Research and Innovation, held on 7–8 May in São Paulo by the DWIH São Paulo and FAPESP. Under the 2025 theme "Artificial Intelligence: Promises, Expectations, and Limitations in Science and Society", the event brought together experts from Brazil and to discuss four core topics: AI in medicine and healthcare, AI in science and engineering, regulation of impacts, and its use in the humanities. Katharina Fourier, Director of DWIH São Paulo and DAAD Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst Brazil, emphasised that scientific diplomacy is key to addressing complex societal challenges. New research collaboration in advanced manufacturing! The AI2SB project – Integrating AI into Small Batch Manufacturing – brings together experts from the USP - Universidade de São Paulo (USP), Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná (PUC-PR), and Technische Universität Darmstadt (TU Darmstadt) to explore how AI, digital twins, additive manufacturing and smart assembly can enhance flexibility and efficiency in production. With funding from CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - German Research Foundation through the Collaborative Research Initiative (PIPC), this four-year project aims to make small-batch and even one-off production economically viable by developing AI tools for efficient disassembly, component redesign, additive manufacturing and final assembly. Candidates must hold a relevant degree in business or istration, possess substantial experience in ing, and demonstrate an excellent command of both German and Portuguese. A valid work and residence permit for Brazil is required.
